Volunteer Roles

DRIVERS

To assist staff with activities that support our community.

Bus Assistant

Volunteers help on our shopping buses. They assist the driver by helping clients embark and disembark the bus, help with lifting and carrying of shopping bags and general care for the clients whilst they are on the bus.

Fundraising

We have a number of fundraising events through the year and always need the support of volunteers in the administration, collection of donations or assisting with a number of other duties.

Social Support Group

Volunteers assist our Program Coordinators with activities, morning tea and lunch.

Gardening

We have volunteers who enjoy doing some gardening at the TMCCA centre. They enjoy the flexibility of days and hours.

Computer Tutoring

This is a thriving program at TMCCA. Seniors (50+) come to TMCCA for basic computer tutoring. This has included desktops, laptops and recently, tablets and smartphones. Volunteer tutors run these computer lessons on an hourly basis. Again tutoring is flexible times.

Social Support Individual

Volunteers must be able to drive locally. Social Support involves visiting a client of TMCCA. Social support can include taking the client out locally for coffee, hair appointments, groceries, etc, sitting in the client’s home and having coffee and a chat or maybe light meal preparation.

Events

Throughout the year we hold events for our clients at TMCCA. We have volunteers who help with morning or afternoon teas and sometimes decorating. This volunteer role is ideal for those who don’t have much free time but would like to do a few hours of volunteering throughout the year.

Volunteer Events

Throughout the year we provide training including First Aid, CPR, Manual Handling, Food Safety, Workplace Health and Safety which all volunteers are welcome to attend. We also try to hold a Christmas event each year for our volunteers to say thank you for the contributions that each makes to the community.
